Prof. dr. sc. Mislav Gjurić dr. med.

Otorhinolaryngologist – a specialist in disorders of the nose, sinuses, and ears, as well as in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. Areas of special interest are functional-aesthetic nasal surgery, endoscopic laser surgery of the sinuses and microsurgery of the ear and auditory nerve. He is one of the few surgeons in the world who performs the most complicated operations on the auditory nerve in tumors and other diseases in the skull base area. As a member of the team of M.E. Wigand and W. Draf, pioneers of endoscopic surgery of the sinuses and skull base in the world, he contributed to initiating and developing this surgery in Croatia.

Born in Zagreb, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb, specialized in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, and received his doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. He received habilitation and professorship at the Medical School of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, and during 15 years of experience in Erlangen, subspecialization in plastic surgery of the head and neck and microsurgery of the skull base. At the University of Frankfurt a.M., he completed subspecialization in allergology.

During his professional and scientific career, Professor Gjurić has collaborated with leading experts in the world – U. Fisch, M. Sanna, G. Rettinger, J. Helms, W. Hosemann, H. Iro, R. Fahlbusch, M. Samii, C. Sen, L. Sehkar, J. Magnan, P. Tran-Ba-Huy, M. Gleeson and many others, and has been a resident at prestigious clinics in Europe (London, Zurich, Basel, Bern, Hannover, Munich, Würzburg, Paris, Marseilles, Lund, Graz, Vienna) and the USA (New York, Washington).

Professor Gjurić is a lecturer at the Medical School of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and Zagreb. He is a member and honorary member of prestigious international professional associations, which mainly bring together experts in ear surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck. He is a regular invited lecturer at congresses and professional meetings and a leader of practical courses for the education of junior doctors worldwide.
