SEND INQUIRYFoam sclerotherapy, also known as “foam vein surgery,” “ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy,” or simply abbreviated as UGFS (ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy), is a method used to treat damaged veins and capillaries. This technique involves closing off the affected veins from the inside using a chemical agent prepared in a foam form. This foam irritates and damages the inner wall of the vein, leading to its closure and gradual breakdown, while redirecting blood flow to healthier veins. Minimally invasive: This method requires no surgical incisions and can often be performed with little or no local anesthesia. Quick procedure: The treatment typically lasts about 10 minutes, which is significantly shorter compared to traditional surgical vein operations carried out in hospital settings.
In recent years, foam sclerotherapy under ultrasound guidance has revolutionized the treatment of varicose veins. The ability to treat veins without the need for any anesthesia, without surgical cuts, and with immediate recovery has transformed how patients approach vein treatments. Dr. Anton Krnić was among the first in Croatia to adopt this method and has undergone necessary training in Austria to ensure proficiency in its application.
