Himenoplastika – rekonstrukcija himena

What is Hymenoplasty?
Hymenoplasty is an uncommon procedure and is actually performed rarely. It involves ‘refreshing’ the edges of a deflowered hymen and stitching them with absorbable sutures that will later dissolve on their own, while leaving a small opening for the woman’s physiological needs. If no remnants of the hymen are present, it can be reconstructed from surrounding tissue.
It is important to understand that the hymen is a ring-like connective membrane made of dense connective tissue. It is located in the lower third of the vagina and separates the vagina from the vestibule (the entrance of the vagina). The hymen is usually ruptured during sexual intercourse, although it can occasionally be torn during tampon use, sports activities, or falls.
In What Cases is the Procedure Performed?
Hymen reconstruction is generally performed for personal reasons, upon the woman’s request.
What Should You Know Before Hymenoplasty?
Before the procedure, a discussion and consultation with the surgeon is necessary. The surgeon will provide recommendations regarding diet and smoking before and after the operation, as well as instructions on the use or avoidance of medications and vitamins. Several days before the procedure, you should avoid smoking and alcohol, and stop taking medications containing acetylsalicylic acid, which can cause bleeding and hematomas. This will help speed up recovery.
How is the Hymenoplasty Procedure Performed?
Hymenoplasty, at Poliklinika Sinteza, is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The remaining hymen tissue, if available, is stitched to the vaginal walls to form a ring. If no remnants are available for stitching, the hymen can be reconstructed from surrounding tissue. The procedure usually lasts up to an hour and typically has no major recovery issues.
Recovery and Duration
You will need to rest for two to three days, after which most patients usually return to work. However, sexual activity should be avoided for four to six weeks post-procedure. There are no special instructions required for maintaining regular hygiene.
Post-Procedure Experiences
During the first sexual intercourse after hymen reconstruction, the hymen is expected to be “ruptured,” accompanied by slight bleeding, similar to the bleeding experienced during the first sexual intercourse in one’s life.
Precautions
It is important to follow all instructions from the Poliklinika Sinteza regarding the use of medications and dietary supplements, as well as rest and hygiene.
